This open-endedmathematics investigationhas been designed to deepen students’ understanding ofmass.
In this investigation, the principal needs to buy new shelves for the classroom but needs to know the mass of the objects that will go on the shelves to make sure the right ones are purchased. Unfortunately, the measuring equipment has been lost and the masses will need to be measured using balance scales and informal units.
