Roll and Find – Figurative Language

Teach Starter Publishing
PDF|1 page|Years:2 - 6

一个n activity for students to identify and interpret figurative language.

Figurative language can be a tricky concept for students to grasp. Similes and metaphors, personification and onomatopoeia – it can be hard to spot in the text!

This activity will allow students to practise identifying various types offigurative language. All they need is a text, a die, and this game and they are all set!

The types of figurative language that students will need to find include:

  • similies
  • metaphors
  • personification
  • hyperbole
  • onomatopoeia
  • alliteration.

Since not all texts have every type of figurative language, you can create a challenge for your students! If they can’t identify the type of figurative language that matches their dice roll, they can create their own using the context of the text they read.
