A worksheet to use when learning the subtraction strategy of thinking addition in order to subtract.

Students require a 10-sided die to complete this activity. The goal is for students to find their way (along an avenue) from the house to the playground – in much the same way as one completes a maze. Squares are shaded to indicate the avenue. When calculating answers, students are encouraged to write subtraction equations as their‘inverse’ operationon scrap paper.
It may be easiest to calculate the answers to all equations before starting to roll the die.
This worksheet can be completed individually or with a partner. If playing with a partner, each player will need to use a different coloured pencil to shade their squares.
