A fun icebreaker activity to use at the beginning of a new school year.
Thisicebreaker activitycombines a singing/actionsongwith a ‘get-to-know-you’ discussion.
The activity begins with students standing in pairs. They perform actions while singing altered words to the tune of ‘Baa Baa Black Sheep’. On completion of the song, students sit down with their partner to talk and get to know each other. Direct the students’ discussions by reading out a discussion prompt card. The goal is for the partners to find two things they both agree on. As soon as every pair has found two common answers, students stand and find a new partner and the whole process is repeated.
Stick music notation is included in the song instructions (for those who can read music) – otherwise, simply follow the asterisks (as these indicate when movements are to be done).
