This fun resource is a great way for students to practise identifying examples offigurative language.
Print out the resource on thick card and cut out the cards on the dotted lines. Store in a resealable bag to be used again and again.
You may like to use this resource in the following ways:
Figurative Language Sort – Students sort the cards by the type of figurative language by placing each card underneath the correct heading.
Figurative Language Scoot – Place the example cards around the room. Students rotate through the cards, writing the figurative language type on their recording sheet.
The types of figurative language used in this resource include:
- simile
- metaphor
- personification
- hyperbole
- idiom
- onomatopoeia.
