A set of 24 instruction cards to use when playing "Simon Says".

Playing agameof “Simon Says” is an active and enjoyable way of introducing instructions to students. Instructions provide a wonderful basis for learning about theproceduretext type.

Each instruction in the game contains averb, anounand anadverb/adverbial phrasee.g. Raise both arms into the air. When playing the game, encourage your students to identify each part of speech in the instruction given.

Two versions of the instruction cards are provided in thisteaching resource. The first set of cards are intended to be used as complete sentences. Cut out and laminate each instruction and display these on the board as you play the game. The second set of cards are intended to be segmented. Cut out and laminate the verbs, the nouns and the adverbs/adverbial phrases. Allow the students to create new instructions by making new combinations of verbs, nouns and adverbs/adverbial phrases.
