Use this worksheet to demonstrate an understanding of proportional relationships by calculating unknown values with equivalent ratios.
Equivalent Ratios Worksheet
Are your students studyingratiosin their math class? When students first begin to explore this topic, they generally work with visuals to represent the relationship between the two amounts. Let’s take a look at an example.
⭐⭐⭐
In this visual representation, there are 7 green hearts and 3 stars. When representing this visual as a ratio, we could write it 3 different ways.
- With words [7 to 3]
- With a colon [7:3]
- As a fraction [7/3]
After students learn how to represent ratios, they must understand how to generate equivalent ratios. To do this, students must look at the two numbers in the same place of each ratio and use multiplication and division to find missing values. If you are looking for a worksheet for your students to use, Teach Starter is here to help!
Students will practice finding missing values to create equivalent ratios with this worksheet. Students will practice creating 16 equivalent ratios represented in fraction form and with a colon.

In addition to independent student work time, use this worksheet as an activity for:
- Guided math groups
- Lesson warm-up
- Lesson wrap-up
- Fast finishers
- Homework assignment
- Whole-class review (via smartboard)
For early finishers, encourage them to write their found ratio in a different form (as a fraction, with words, with a colon).
If there are students who need additional support, provide them with a multiplication chart to help with basic facts. Additionally, invite students to reference previous assignments, posters, or anchor charts.
